About our funding programs

RDF Logo

The Monsanto Rural Development Fund was established in the fall of 2012 and is a three year partnership between Monsanto Canada and Youth Parliament of Manitoba (YPM) with the aim of helping rural youth, especially those from a farm family, attend YPM’s annual Winter Session.

The generous contribution from Monsanto enables Youth Parliament of Manitoba to live up to its name by providing opportunities for all Manitoban youth to experience and benefit from our program. It is an essential tool for YPM’s continued commitment to achieving our mandate.

AFMMLA partnership funding

The Association of Former Manitoba MLAs provides funding for youth from Northern Manitoba and to those who would not otherwise be able to attend Winter Session. The goal of this partnership is to ensure that all Manitobans have equal access to Youth Parliament of Manitoba’s programming.

Alumni Scholarship

In 2014, Youth Parliament of Manitoba was happy to introduce the Youth Parliament of Manitoba Alumni Scholarship. The Scholarship allows a member to attend session who might not otherwise be able to due to financial constraints. The inaugural installment of this award was funded by the generous support of three of our esteemed alumni members: Ben Wickstrom (81st-83rd), Sachin Kumar (81st-83rd), and Steven Synyshyn (81st-83rd). The recipient is selected by contributing alumni in coordination with the Board of Directors through networking with members of the Winnipeg non-profit community to find an interested and engaged youth that could benefit from and enjoy attending a YPM session. The Scholarship covers the registration fee and also includes additional funds for acquiring parliamentary attire and covering the cost of meals and other spending during session.

We are very excited to have the Alumni Scholarship as one of our funding opportunities and look forward to welcoming recipients to our sessions. It is our hope that this initiative creates another way for recent and older alumni to stay connected and contribute to YPM efforts. Alumni are encouraged to contact the Board of Directors if they are interested in contributing to this initiative in sessions to come and in so doing help to make Youth Parliament of Manitoba increasingly accessible for all Manitoban youth. Of course, many thanks go to Ben, Sachin, and Steven for initiating and supporting the inauguration of this excellent opportunity.
