Governance

As with any organization, Youth Parliament of Manitoba has defined regulations and governing structures to ensure consistency from year to year.

Philosophy

All aspects of our governance are shaped according to our motto: For Youth, By Youth. From this philosophy, all formal governing structures are begotten.

Governing Documents

First and foremost, we adhere to all laws established by the federal and provincial governments. Links are provided to certain laws of particular relevance to our operations.

YPM has its own set of corporate By-laws, which are the internal rules and regulations governing the organization.

The Standing Orders govern procedure at our parliamentary sessions.

The Code of Conduct is a contract to which all members must follow at official events.

The Western Canada Youth Parliament Act is a joint agreement amongst the four youth parliaments in Western Canada.

Committees

To ensure that YPM's governing documents remain remain current, the five-member SOBLOC is struck each year. They report their recommendations for amendments at the AGM.

Caucuses

All YPM members who live outside of the city of Winnipeg are also members of the Rural Caucus, which provide advocacy for the interests of youth from rural areas of the province.
